EXHIBIT

BEYOND THE STREETS IS THE PREMIER EXHIBITION OF GRAFFITI, STREET ART & BEYOND

"BEYOND THE STREETS celebrates society’s most pervasive mark makers and rule breakers with unprecedented purpose and scale. The exhibition explores the collective urgency of using the street as a canvas for expression. People have long taken to the streets to share a name, phrase, image or cause with the world around them to force a public discourse. Streets act as the symbolically important public stage that is both local and universal, the bedrock for both public protest and anonymous action. While the subject matter varies and the mediums are many, it is in the public sphere where these messages find a home."

"BEYOND THE STREETS heads to the art form’s epicenter, New York. The exhibition transforms more than 100,000 square feet of space into a museum-quality art experience, along with performances, lectures and films."

"Street art gets its due as more than 150 international artists commandeer two floors of a Williamsburg office building. Curated by urban anthropologist Roger Gastman, Beyond the Streets examines the fundamental drive for public self-expression, while spotlighting both current scene stars and those who have transitioned from the street to the studio. Highlights include Felipe Pantone, Takashi Murakami, C.R. Stecyk III, Futura and Invader, whose ceramic Space Invaders are all over the world."
